The autoharp is one of the most beautiful, and easiest, instruments of the folk tradition. The late Mike Seeger became a master of the instrument after studying the techniques of Maybelle Carter, Kilby Snow and others, taking it far beyond its simple roots. He starts out with simple strums and chords, then introduces picking patterns, complex chord changes and the proper way to pick out melodies. You’ll learn advanced applications, such as slurring, playing melodic runs, chromatic and diatonic harp techniques, harmony playing, more. You’ll be able to create beautiful accompaniments and lead parts for any folk, bluegrass or country songs you choose to play. Songs: “This Land is Your Land,” “Sailor on the Deep Blue Sea,” “Victory Rag” and “Down in the Valley.”
