Hohner Special 20 is a 10 hole diatonic harmonica with the reed plates recessed into a moulded plastic comb, which is why so many working players use it as their main instrument.

The recessed comb is the reason it feels smoother on your lips than a traditional harmonica.

What Makes the Special 20 Different?

The reed plates sit inside the plastic comb rather than sandwiched on the outside. There are no exposed plate edges against your mouth, so long sets are more comfortable and bending comes easier.

Is It Worth More Than an Entry Harmonica?

For anyone playing regularly, yes. The airtight moulded comb makes it more responsive, and the Progressive series tuning is what most blues players expect under their hands.

Which Keys Are Available?

Hohner makes the Special 20 across the full range of keys. Availability varies, so call 844-687-4208 if you need a key that is not listed.

Why Hohner

Matthias Hohner started making harmonicas in Trossingen, Germany in 1857, and the company has made more of them than anyone else since. The reason a Hohner turns up in the hands of blues players, buskers and session musicians is not nostalgia, it is that the reed plates are consistent from one instrument to the next and replacement parts stay available for models that have been in production for decades.
