Harmonica great John Sebastian teaches you how to play great blues harp right from the beginning. He explains how to hold the instrument and make your first tones, then uses “cowboy music” to demonstrate “out” or “straight” harp style, then how to play your first blues scales using traditional “cross harp” technique. Before you know it, you’ll be playing a blues in G, complete with intro and turnaround. John teaches how to bend notes, improvise lead lines and play powerful rhythm back-up patterns – even Sonny Terry’s “Fox Chase” rhythm. You’ll soon jam in major and minor keys, play in “waltz” and “straight” time, and understand the chord theory behind most blues/rock chord progressions. Includes tips on breathing, tonguing, vibrato, attack, more.
