The brilliance of jazz violinists like Stephane Grappelli and Stuff Smith came, not from instrumental virtuosity, but their “jazz intelligence” – their ability to synthesize the jazz language and effectively articulate it on their instrument. Here you’ll find a collection of jazz violin solos-all of which can be played in first position. These solos will give your fingers an opportunity to talk jazz and do it while bypassing many of the violin’s technical landmines. 52 pp.
