DigiTech Drop is a dedicated polyphonic drop-tune pedal covering one semitone down through a full octave down, plus an octave down with dry blend. A momentary and latching switch lets it work as a set-and-forget transposer or as a performance pedal for fast trills and pitch dips. Conversion is 24-bit at 44.1 kHz in a compact enclosure.

Down-tuned riffs without a second guitar or a retune between songs.

The Drop does one thing. It moves the whole instrument down, anywhere from a single semitone to a full octave, and it tracks polyphonically so chords survive the trip. There is one knob for the amount and one switch, which is the entire interface.

The reason to reach for it over a full Whammy is that dropping tuning is a different job from bending pitch. A player covering material in Eb, drop D and drop C in one set does not need a treadle, they need a transposer that stays where it is put. The Drop is that, in an enclosure a quarter the size.

The momentary and latching switch is what turns it into more than a utility. Set to latching it holds the tuning. Set to momentary it drops only while the foot is down, which puts fast trills and roller-coaster pitch dips under the toe, and returns to pitch the instant the switch releases.

How Far Down Does the Drop Go?

One through seven semitones down, a full octave down, and an octave down with the dry signal blended back in. That covers Eb, D, drop D, drop C and everything between without touching the tuning pegs.

Who Is the Drop For?

Players covering material written across several tunings in one set, anyone who would otherwise carry a second guitar tuned down, and metal and hard rock players who want the low tuning without dealing with the slack strings that come with actually tuning down.

What Does the Momentary Switch Do?

In latching mode the pedal holds the selected drop until switched off, working as a transposer. In momentary mode it only drops while the footswitch is held, so releasing snaps back to pitch. That turns it into a performance effect for trills and fast dips rather than a tuning utility.

Why DigiTech?

DigiTech has built guitar effects since 1984 and invented the mass-market digital pitch shifter with the original Whammy in 1989. After a period under Harman ownership the brand was acquired by Cor-Tek in 2022 and has returned to active development, with the MonoNeon Whammy and HammerOn both arriving in 2025. Pitch shifting remains what the company is known for.
