The Elixir OPTIWEB Electric Guitar Strings in Light .010-.046 are coated electric guitar strings sold here as a three set pack. OPTIWEB is Elixir’s thinnest coating, engineered so the string feels and sounds like an uncoated set while still resisting the gunk that kills tone. Nickel plated steel wrap wire, Anti-Rust Plated plain steels. Elixir part 16552X.

For the player who always said coated strings feel wrong. This is the one that doesn’t.

OPTIWEB came out of a straightforward complaint. Coated strings lasted, but a lot of players could feel the coating and did not like it. Elixir’s answer was to take the layer as thin as it could go while still sealing the windings.

What you get is a crisp, present tone with a grippy rather than slick surface, which is what players who bend hard and use wide vibrato tend to want. It is the closest of the three coatings to a plain nickel string, and the trade is that it does not damp finger squeak the way POLYWEB does.

Buying three sets at once is the practical move if you gig. Light .010-.046 is the most common electric gauge there is, so a spare set in the case is never wasted.

Who Is This Pack For?

Gigging and recording players on .010-.046 who go through sets and would rather buy three at a time. Also the right pick for anyone who has tried coated strings before and found the feel off.

How Does OPTIWEB Compare to a Plain Nickel String?

Very close in feel and brightness, which is the whole point of the coating. The difference shows up after a few weeks, when the OPTIWEB set still sounds like itself and the uncoated set has gone dull.

What Comes in the Box?

Three individually sealed Elixir sets of six strings, all Light .010-.046, in one retail carton.

Why Elixir Strings

Elixir is the only string maker that coats the entire string rather than just the wrap wire, which keeps sweat and debris out of the gaps between the windings where tone normally dies first. Anti-Rust Plating on the plain steels protects the rest of the set. The result is fewer string changes and a set that still sounds like itself weeks in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these genuine Elixir Strings?

Yes. Victory is a veteran owned dealer in Miami and units ship new in original packaging, sealed by Elixir.

Are the three sets all the same gauge?

Yes, all three are Light .010-.046. This pack is not a mixed gauge assortment.

Do the unopened sets go bad sitting in a case?

The sealed pouches are the reason they do not. Each set stays in its own sealed pack until you open it, so a spare can sit in the case for a long time.

Should I pick OPTIWEB or NANOWEB?

OPTIWEB if you want the most natural feel and a crisp top end. NANOWEB if you want a slightly smoother surface and a little less brightness.
